2. Let it cool briefly and place it in your mouth.
3. Bite firmly and press it from front to back with your fingers.
4. Then let it harden in cold water.

Tips for beginning kickboxers

For your first few lessons, you'll often be asked to bring a mouthguard. Even if you're not sparring on the head yet, protection is wise: an unexpected blow can cause injury. You can borrow boxing gloves, but a mouthguard is personal and hygienic – so always buy a new one.
