UFC 302 takes place on June 2nd, an event we've been anticipating for months. The headliner promises to be spectacular, with Islam Makhachev defending his lightweight title against now-legend Dustin "The Diamond" Poirier.
This fight isn't just a title fight, but also a chance for Poirier to atone for his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov. Islam is a protégé of Khabib's late father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov. A victory over Islam therefore carries more weight than just the gold medal up for grabs.
Dustin Poirier is determined not to leave the outcome to the judges and predicts the match will end early with a brutal knockout.
Islam Makhachev, for his part, is quite confident and expects to face little resistance from Poirier. The champion has been incredibly dominant for 13 straight fights, undefeated, and has already defeated several big names in the UFC.
And Poirier will be no exception, according to Makhachev.
In the co-main event, former middleweight champion Sean Strickland takes on Paulo Costa.
The outspoken Strickland narrowly lost his title last February to current champion Dricus Du Plessis. Around the same time, Costa made his comeback after a long hiatus against former world champion Robert Whittaker, but fell just short.
Both men have something to prove.
Both men are not afraid of a good fight.
And neither man has any intention of fighting backwards.
This is going to be a tough match.

The prelims begin at midnight Dutch time on June 2nd, and the main card kicks off around 4:00 AM.
To avoid confusion, please note: The UFC website states that the event will take place on June 1st, but due to the time difference, it will be June 2nd for Dutch viewers.
